The area is mountainous with hillsides covered with trees. in between small villages and hamlets are dotted on the hillsides. The town of Qurrenca is an attractive small town which has the local administration and is popular with visitors. The population as of 2011 was 759 inhabitants. Local economy is based on olives, fruit, tourism. And has an interesting water museum because the area has since roman times a great underground and above ground water retention and irrigation systems.
